With Osama Dead, Time To Exit Afghanistan

It's been a few days since the great news of Osama Bin Laden being killed by our wonderful Navy Seals. In those few days Obama's poll numbers have gone up, as they should. Don't get me wrong I'm still opposed to the President on many issues. It's just, in the words of Joe Biden, "a big F'n deal". Any President who can say, "We got him" when refering to OBL deserves credit. And he has received it as his poll numbers have gone up 9 points, from 47% to 56%. However with that being said I have a suggestion that could help the President even more.

President Obama should, in the wake of OBL's death, declare victory in Afghanistan and pull our troops out now. Imo, OBL's death has given the U.S. an opportunity to leave that God-forsaken country while being able to hold our collective heads up high. We won the war. We accomplished what we set out to do, get Bin Laden. It may have taken us nearly a decade to accomplish, as well as cost us a lot in the ways of blood and treasure, but we did it. Historians in 50 years may not look at our war in Afghanistan as much of a victory, but in the here and now it will feel much more like a victory than the wars in Vietnam and Korea could ever hope to.

Where as I think this is the right thing to do, the main reason Obama will likely consider doing this is that it will help him politically. It helps him politically because it would not only boost his numbers within his own base but will help him with other Americans as well. America has become very weary of our involvement in Afghanistan. Because of this, if Obama were to declare victory and announce our immediate withdrawal I'd be willing to bet his approval numbers would shoot up into the high 60's. Now as much as oppose this President on most issues I'm willing to submit this idea to him because I like most Americans want out troops home. Our military has become stretched too thin. At the rate we are going in our continuing intervening of countries like Libya, we will either have to cut our losses and leave places like Iraq and Afghanistan or we'll have to bring back the draft. I'd prefer the former rather than the latter. But that's just me.

Hopefully, the President and other elected officials might consider this. The sooner the better. After all if we don't get out now, having declared victory with OBL's death, then what would be our best case scenario as far as an exit strategy goes. Just something to think about.

Wrestlemania 27 = 1 million PPV Buys

Today it was reported that WWE Wrestlemania 27 received 1 million buys. That is up from 885,000 buys from last year, and 960,000 buys from the year before. I'm sure Vince McMahon is extremely happy that all his maneuvers paid off. But why is it that wrestling only gets exciting during the first 3 months(the road to Wrestlemania) and then dies off for the rest of the year? Why can't WWE or TNA for that matter make pro-wrestling that exciting 24/7?

Well there are two different reasons for both companies. Let's start with TNA: TNA wants to be exactly like WWE. Every time you turn around they do something out of the WWE's playbook. It's riddiculous. I first noticed this back in 2004, when TNA moved to monthly pay-per-views. I thought to myself,"why are they trying to follow WWE's PPV model? Especially at a time when WWE was expanding theirs". If WWE was going to water down their product, TNA should have done the opposite and gone to a 4-6 PPVs a year model. This way TNA can make everyone of their PPVs seem special, seem like Wreslemania. But TNA has always clung to WWE's tail, and always will unfortunately. Then there's the fact that TNA has a lot of the people who ran WCW into the ground running the show. And based on the number rehashed storylines, I wouldn't be surprised if Hulk Hogan and company ran TNA into the ground either.

Now onto WWE: As I mentioned above WWE has severely watered down their product. It is oversaturated in every way possible. 13 PPVs a year a number that was said to be, by an executive within the company, the minimum amount of PPVs a year. Then you've got all sorts of television, Raw, Smackdown, Raw Am, Tough Enough. That doesn't include tv shows that have recently been either cancelled, ECW, relegated to WWE.com, NXT and Superstars, or the occasional special, Saturday Nights Main Event. There is so much overexposure that hardly anything feels special anymore. The reason the Road to Wrestlemania feels special is because that's the one event they actually try to build-up to months in advance. Compare that to say Hell in a Cell, a PPV that occurs two-weeks after Night of Champions. TWO-WEEKS!!! I say. How the hell can you make a PPV feel special in those circumstances? You can't. All you can do is offer rematches from the last PPV, which makes all those people who ordered the previous PPV very upset. Now most PPVs have more than two weeks, this was a worse case scenario obviously, but the thing is WWE doesn't use all that tv time wisely. One of the worst PPV builds last year, imo, was Fatal Four Way. Why? Because the Raw prior to the PPV we only had 4 matches announced. Four. They didn't care about it, so I didn't order it. And judging by the buyrates for it neither did anyone else.

Now the reason I'm giving WWE an even harder time on this than TNA is because they should know better. They've been around over half a century while TNA isn't even 10 yet. Because they're still young compared to WWE, I'm willing to cut TNA some slack. But not enough to abstain them from any wrong doings they've done.

The fact that pro-wrestling is doing poorly is not due to the fans turning their backs on it, it's because there is too much mediocrity and not enough big moments. Moments that transcend the test of time. So while I'm happy Wrestlemania 27 did a good buyrate, I just wish every show had the feel of a Wrestlemania. I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment.

The American President (Obama)

Well, Well...Apparently the news of the day is that President Obama is an American. Who Knew? Well fewer and fewer as time went by, that's who. That's because President Obama has been letting this issue linger on for the past 3 years. In that 3 year span he could have produced this birth certificate at any time but didn't. Why? Well it seems the consensus from the Main-Stream-Media is that it's because he wanted to make his opponents look foolish. If that's the case, then why release the birth certificate now?

My theory is that Obama released it due to the number of people believing the birther issue was important was going up. In a recent CNN poll, 24% of Americans believed the birther issue was an important issue. Meaning they either thought he wasn't a legitimate President or was starting to have doubts. Compare this to just two years ago when he first took office where less than 10% believed he wasn't born here. These numbers have gone up steadily in just two short years. And remember that a new President is given a honeymoon period at the start of their term, so the fact the number of people who believe there's credence to the birther issue has gone to 1 in 4 has to be startling to this administration to say the least.

And it would of have gotten worse if Obama let this issue remain just that an issue. How you ask? Well I've found that as a President gets more and more unpopular the more people start to believe the worst in them. Take Bush for example, even now he gets blamed for all sorts of things a clear headed person knows to be false(ie BP Oil disaster). And so I believe Obama released the certificate to save himself from this potentially damaging issue next year. If 1-in-4 believed it now with Obama's approval at 41% then where would it be this time next year, 1-in-3, 2-in-5,etc. He pre-emptively took this issue off the table once and for all. Some of the die-hard birthers will still refuse to believe he's American but those who were beginning to lean a little have one less grievance with this President than they did the day before. So the President's strategy here worked.

However, I must say that Donald Trump is also a winner in this whole mess. Because he managed to get Obama to reveal something that the Clintons weren't able to. And he took away Obama's original intent in the whole lingering of the birth certificate. Now the GOP nominee, whether it's Trump or not, can focus on the real issues when running against Obama in 2012. And that is a very good thing.

(Scott) WALKER WISCONSIN RANGER

Today is a good day for those of us who believe Unions have gotten away with too much, and too big for their britches. The reason it's good is due to the Republicans being able to get around the foolish behavior of 14 crybabies and passing a bill that would limit the unions ability in regards to collective bargaining. Now that it's passed those 14 obstructionist(yes I called them what they called Republicans the last 2 years, except the Republicans actually showed up!)can return to work, if they even know how to do this. Then Governor Walker and the Democrats can get back to doing the people of Wisconsin's business. All is right with the world, right? Well knowing Democrats the way I do they just can't let it go at that. They have to threaten recalls for the Governor and his fellow Republicans.

So let me see if I've got the Democratic playbook correct: 1)Tuck your tail between your leg and runaway to another state, 2)If that doesn't work bring in your astroturf movement(ie out of state unions)to intimidate the Republicans, and 3)If that to fails and you lose the battle and the vote, then start pouting and begin a recall effort. Did I get it right? I think so. See in their mind it's their way or the highway. That's how the first two-years of Obama went. At least Governor Walker and the Republicans gave the Democrats more time to discuss this issue than they themselves were given two-years ago when the Democrats passed a massive Billion dollar tax hike in a 24 hour period with no public input. But you can't blame the Democrats for going ballistic over this issue when you consider the fact that unions are their biggest contributors. They can't stand the thought of a diminished Sugar Daddy(unions). They couldn't care a lick about the middle class, it's all about the money for them plain and simple.

Governor Walker, or as I call him (Scott) Walker Wisconsin Ranger, should be applauded for his determination to balance the budget while giving the people in public unions the ability to decide where their money goes and who represents them. And for those on the far-left, who look to create even more chaos through these recall efforts, know that this is only the beginning. No more business as usual. We've got serious issues to tackle, and if you're not part of the solution then get the hell out of the way! Change at last has come!!! America will take it's place once again as that Shining City on a Hill that will be the inspiration and triumph of the World.

Just my 2 cents on this issue.

Wisconsin 14 - Thuganomics 101

This blogs intent is to put forth my feelings on this whole debacle going on in the state of Wisconsin.

In the 10 years I've paid attention to the political scene, I've never witnessed such cowardice as we've witnessed from these 14 Democratic state senators. I guess their motto is, when the going gets tough runaway. Imagine if every state had representatives who did that. Nothing would get done. If Republicans were obstructionist for using the filibuster the last two years, then what does that make these Democrats. For me I'd say they were being derelict. And it pleases me that a resolution was just passed that calls for their arrest. In my op ion, these men and women have no place serving in government(local, state, or federal). Hopefully with passage of this resolution the 14 will be arrested shortly and this whole mess can be put behind us with Governor Walker's Budget Bill passing.

Now onto the protesters themselves. In the words of Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, these protesters are what I'd called AstroTurf. This is a organized movement set up by the major players, ie SEIU, and AFL-CIO. They do not represent the majority of Americans. The only reason that it seems they do is because the Lame Stream Media is in bed with them. And I can back that claim to be sure. Just look at the difference between the media's coverage of the Tea Party and the thugs up in Madison, Wisconsin. With the Tea Party the media had to seek out the few nutty people with inappropriate signs and then tried to tarnish the entire group because those few nuts. Compare that to the union thugs in Wisconsin, it doesn't take very long to find the nuts and the inappropriate signs. And you know why? Because they're everywhere. It doesn't matter what network you watch(ABC,NBC,CBS,Fox News, CNN). It just doesn't matter because the union protesters are made up of mostly nutty people. Nutty people who compare the Governor to Hitler and Mubarak, who surround law makers and bring live ammo to the state capital. Yet it's the Tea Partiers who are dangerous? Imagine if we lived in a world where the media still had journalistic standards and integrity how this whole mess might have been averted. Alas we don't live in such a world. And as a result we have whining children running away from their responsibilities and thugs trying to intimidate those we elected democratically from putting our house in order. Shame on all of them.

One last thing, in the fall of 2009 I remember the Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi giving a press conference. In this press conference I saw her crying while telling a story about how the rhetoric of the Tea Party reminded her a lot of the violence that came about from the 60's. Now here is what I'd like to know. Where is she now? Where is Nancy Pelosi, when there is actual evidence of violent rhetoric and actions coming from these union thugs. Where? Oh never mind, I think I can answer my own question. The reason she is no where to be found is because she too is in bed with the unions. She receives a lot of campaign money from them. Therefore she won't bite the hand that feeds her. But even if she wasn't I find it hard to believe she'd come out against them. She has to uphold the traditional Double Standards the Democratic Party and Lame Stream Media cherish.

So a special shame on her for Nancy "I still wish I was Speaker" Pelosi.

Wrestlemania XXVII 3D

It's being reported that Vince McMahon wants Wrestlemania XXVIIto break One Million PPV buys. Now looking at how Wrestlemania is currently shaping up I'd say it probably won't happen. That's due to a couple different factors, one of which is the lack of star power wrestling at the event. But I can think of a couple of things that might help his cause a bit.

The first is in the title of this blog. I heard rumors a month or two ago that WWE was considering showing Wrestlemania in theatres, and that it might be shown in 3D. IMO, I think this would be a good idea for a couple of reasons.1)3D is an on-going craze right now, the WWE might want to take advantage of it while they can; and 2)It would give those who attend the feeling that they're at the show itself, which would make for an exciting experience.

The second and most important is to pay the Rock what ever he wants to get him to wrestle John Cena. As much as I love the back and forth between the two on the mic, it would ultimately be wasted if it didn't result in a match between the two. Some have suggested that this match be saved for Wrestlemania XXVIII, which will take place in Rock's hometown of Miami. I don't have a problem with that at all. However, if Vince wants this year's Mania to break a million buys this would be the match do it. Undertaker/HHH is an alright match, but unlike Rock/Cena it's been done before. Think of this it's been 7 years since the Rock had his last match, so obviously there would be a lot of anticipation if Rock were to have a farewell match against WWE's Golden boy John Cena. Compare that to the top Mania matches thus far Undertaker/HHH, Cena/Miz, and Edge/Alberto Del Rios. None of those even comes close to bringing the spectacle to Wrestlemania that Rock/Cena would. Remember Wrestlemania XVIII, the main-event was HHH/Jericho yet that Mania will always be remembered for Hogan/Rock. The same could happen this year if Vince could only get Rock on board with it. If the Rock truly loved WWE and it's fans he would do this. If not then I guess Cena was right about Rock all along. That he never loved WWE and only used it as a stepping stone to become a Hollywood movie star.

So in summary, if WWE wants a million buys(+) they should do Rock/Cena and show Wrestlemania XXVII in select theatres in 3D. Both those would build Wrestlemania up as a can't miss event. Of course having a decent undercard wouldn't hurt either. As of right now with the way things stand I'm not sure if I'll be ordering this year's Wrestlemania. And I've ordered Mania every year since my first Mania in 2000. Hopefully WWE can turn things around and make it worth ordering. Time will tell.

TNA Lockdown 2011 PPV...How I would book it.

With Against All Odds in the books, TNA is officially on the Road To Lockdown. This blog will cover how I'd book it, and the Impacts leading to it. I'm going to lay out the matches and explain the storyline to them and then afterwards explain how to build to the show.

My TNA Lockdown 2011 PPV Card:

Main Event: 60-minute Iron Man TNA World Championship Steel Cage Match- Jeff Hardy(c)vs. Rob Van Dam (This match up makes sense when you consider that storyline wise it was Jeff who had Abyss take RVD out, and cost him his title. TNA has been teasing this match the last couple months. I think they would be well served to hold off on it until Lockdown. And then to ensure that you blow feud off in a big way, it needs to have a stipulation like the one I chose)

Semi-Main Event: Lethal Lockdown Steel Cage Match(5 on 5)Team Immortal-Matt Hardy/Rob Terry/Jeff Jarrett/Abyss/and Hulk Hogan vs. Team Fortune- AJ Styles/Kurt Angle/Robert Roode/James Storm/ and Ric Flair- Hogan and Flair's involvement would be minimal, but seeing as how these two groups split it would make sense they'd be involved. And I'd much rather them be in the actual match then have them(TNA)do what they did in last year's Lethal Lockdown match(at Lockdown not BFG). As for the match up it makes a lot of sense based on the recent revelation of "They".

# 1 Contender's Steel Cage Match for the TNA World Title at Sacrifice: Samoa Joe vs. The Pope vs. Mr. Anderson- The purpose of this match is to indicate to the fans that the main event match between RVD and Jeff Hardy will not get a rematch. TNA really needs to sell that point. That way more fans might order this PPV, instead of believing oh well I'll wait for the rematch on Impact or the next PPV.

TNA Knockouts Championship I Quit Steel Cage Match: Madison Rayne(c) vs. Mickie James-These are the two biggest knockouts going in TNA right now. With Lockdown just around the corner I can't see them bringing in another babyface to face Madison at Lockdown. So it's either this or a multiple knockout match of some kind.

Vacated TNA X Division Championship Fatal Fourway Steel Cage Match: Alex Shelly vs. Chris Sabin vs. Max Buck vs. Jeremy Buck-With Immortal and Fortune facing each other in Lethal Lockdown I think Team Immortal should take out Kazarian and as a result the X Division title is held up. TNA then conducts a March Madness kind of tournament is done with the final four facing off at Lockdown. This would mean TNA would need to bring in some wrestlers from New Japan,AAA,etc. That would get fans ready for a rumored X Division only Destination X PPV in July.

Steel Cage Grudge Match: Bully Ray vs. Brother Devon-The way this feud has gone it is only logical that TNA would want to blow it off at Lockdown. But whoever said TNA was logical. And this match should be on the pre-show. To get the fans in the arena pumped.

Who gains the one man advantage in Lethal Lockdown Steel Cage Match:(I think TNA should let the fans choose who represents Team Immortal and Team Fortune) My Picks- Team Immortal Pick: Jeff Jarrett vs. Team Fortune Pick: Kurt Angle-What better way to blow off Jarrett/Angle then having them face off twice. Once in the opener and the second in the semi-mainevent.

That's my Lockdown card. How TNA needs to build to it is simple. The first impact after Victory Road(TNA's next PPV) they should announce the Double Main Event matches and have Immortal take out Kazarian. After the first impact you need to start the march madness style tournament that will introduce talent from other promotions like New Japan. Also you need RVD and Jeff Hardy come to an agreement on the stipulation and that no matter what the outcome is at Lockdown there will not be a rematch. This leads to a contract signing the next week, impact # 3. After the signing we get interrupted by Samoa Joe, by Mr. Anderson, and by The Pope. They all say they will face the winner of the match. This leads to Bischoff announcing a #1 contender's triple threat steel cage match at Lockdown. TNA also should announce Bully Ray vs. Devon and Madison Rayne vs. Mickie James will both take place at Lockdown. That way you'll have two impacts to complete the tournament and build the matches properly. The only other match left to announce is one that the TNA fans will vote on. That should be announced on the go home show as to give the fans something left over to get exited about going into Lockdown. It is my belief that PPVs that do well are ones where the matches are announced early so they can then be built as being PPV worthy. However added a match at the last moment isn't a bad thing either. Sometimes a last minute addition can get a leaner(someone who hasn't decided for or against ordering the PPV)to purchase the event.

Anyway that's my booking of TNA Lockdown 2011.
